Abstract

The dynamics of the changes in the radioactivity level of the waterflow have been determined by systematic measurements of the alpha- and beta-radioactivity of the Danube in the period from 1958 to 1967 in the region of Vinča. The values of the total beta-radioactivity varied from 2 pCi/l to 818 pCi/l, while the total alpha-radioactivity varied from 0.1 pCi/l to 3.2 pCi/l (Tables 1 and 2). The highest value for beta-radioactivity was registered in August 1962. By analyzing the results of measurements it was found that the frequencies of the appearance of the total beta-radioactivity levels have shown remarkable regularities and they mainly follow the law of log normal distribution. The high correlation degree between the total beta-radioactivity of fallout and the radioactivity of the Danube water has shown that one of the parameters essentially influencing the change of the radioactivity in waterflow is the level of radioactivity in the atmosphere.
