Allgemeine limnologische Probleme sowie Verunreinigungen und ihre Auswirkungen auf die Donau
[General limnological problems, water pollution and their effects in the Danube]
published: Mar 1, 1973
The deteriorating trend in the water quality of the Danube was demonstrated by a great number of hydrochemical and hydrobiological investigations conducted in the Danubian countries. The slow but continuous change appearing in the plankton, the benthos, and the fish stock is to be traced not to natural but principally to anthropogeneous effects. Growing industrialization and the rapid growth of population increase the dangers of water pollution. Therefore more effective measures must be taken against the deterioration of the water quality of the Danube.
