Abstract

Seasonal differences in the occurrence of aquatic hyphomycete conidia in stream water were studied by membrane filtration. Water samples were collected bimonthly for a year at six sites of the Morgó stream. Conidia of 69 species were collected of which 22 were detected throughout the year. At each site the highest conidial concentrations occurred in October and another less pronounced peak was found in April. Lowest concentrations were found in June. Conidial numbers of almost all common species considerably decreased in February. The maximum number of species was observed in December. At the six sites the species diversities were lowest in October and highest in December. Alatospora acuminata, Clavariopsis aquatica and Filosporella sp. 1 ranked highest on every sampling date.
