Pleurotoma erythraea Weinkauff is shown to have been misinterpreted as species of Xenuroturris Iredale 1929. It is demonstrated that it belongs to the genus Turridrupa Hedley 1922. The species is restricted to the Red Sea and it is the only and first specific record of the genus in the Red Sea. A lectotype is designated.
