Abstract

Abstract The crystal structure of dewindtite has been determined by X-ray diffraction and refined to R = 0.063 for 1074 observed reflexions. The unit cell is orthorhombic with space group Bmmb (no. 63), a = 16.031(6), b = 17.264(6), c = 13.605(2) Å, Z = 4. Chemical formula: 3PbO.6UO3.2P2O5.13H2O. The structure consists of [H(UO2)3O2(PO4)2]n3n-layers, parallel to (100), connected by Pb2+ ions bonded to 8 oxygens which form distorted bi-capped trigonal prisms. Structure type: dumontite.
