Abstract

Abstract Equilibrium curves were obtained for the decomposition of NiCO3 and CoCO3 to their respective monoxides and CO2 in the pressure range 300-2000 bars and temperatures up to 700°C under XCo2 close to 0.5. The reversed phase equilibrium runs were performed at selected P-T values and thermodynamic data were deduced for CoCO3 and NiCO3 as follows : CoCO3 ΔH♀= -732.211 ± 3.10 kJ/mol, ΔG♀= -657.266 ± 3.10 kJ/mol NiCO3ΔH♀= -703.380 ± 1.24 kJ/mol, ΔG♀= -628.359 ± 1.24 kJ/mol
