Abstract

Abstract The solvus of the albite-celsian series near the albite end-member has been determined by exchange reactions between albite and a barium chloride solution. The solvus extends between Ab98 Cn2 and Ab48 Cn52 at 450°C, 1.5 kbar, Ab97 Cn3 and Ab60 Cn40 at 600°C, 1.5 kbar and Ab97 Cn3 and Ab82 Cn18 at 750°C, 2 kbar. The two solvi (alkali feldspars and albite-celsian series) are used to estimate the range of unmixing in the ternary system.
