Sibships of a moth Arctia caja Linnaeus 1758 (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae) differed significantly in average body mass and in within-brood variability in body mass as early as first-instar larvae measured soon after hatching. In addition, broods fathered by larger males were more variable in body mass. Consequences of intrabrood variability for larval sibling egg cannibalism are discussed.

Neben diesen Mundteilen erscheinen auch Merkmals Ausprägungen des Tentorium phylogenetisch beachtenswert.
