Abstract

Euplasmic protein synthesis was analysed in previtellogenic oocytes of the telotrophic Dysdercus intermedius (Distant 1890). By tracer microinjection into the ooplasm of explanted ovarioles and by in vitro incubation of naked oocytes and isolated follicle cells, respectively, the capacity of young oocytes to produce their own proteins could be demonstrated. The pattern of polypeptides present in follicle cells, ooplasm, and the tropharium as revealed by SDS-PAGE and fluorography includes similarities between the latter two which are connected by nurse strands.
