Life-time Performance Characteristics of an Aphid Parasitoid, Lysiphlebus delhiensis (Hymenopetra: Aphidiidae)

A life-table is constructed for a less known aphidiid wasp Lysiphlebus delhiensis (Subba Rao & Sharma 1960), a parasitoid of the corn aphid Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch 1856). The female parasitoid survives 7.9 ± 1.85 (S. D.) d and oviposits intensively 4.4 ± 0.8 (S. D.) d. The total fecundity rate [R1] is 180.6 ± 34.69 mummies/females the net reproductive rate [Ro] is 99.20 females offspring/females. The intrinsic total fecundity rate [rt] and intrinsic rate of natural increase [rm] the finite rate of total fecundity [At] and finite rate of natural increase [Am] is 0.3025, 0.2682, 1.3533 and 1.3075 respectively. The mean generation time (17.63 d) and doubling time of the population (2.58 d) is slightly higher than in other Aphidiidae studied so far. The production of females progenies remains around 0.65 throughout the life of females. All these measurements are discussed.
