The A.O. porphyry copper system was studied in detail. It differs from the high grade porphyry copper deposits by the absence of quartz phenocrysts, abundance of actinolite veinlets, low sulfide, and minor quartz stockwork. Porphyry copper, molybdenum, and tin deposits were compared, and fundamental differences are apparent, including host rocks, Rb/Sr and (Sr87/Sr86), ratio, trace elements, and rare earths. Some of these differences could be used for exploration.
