Seismically active fracture zones were delineated and correlated with hypogene mineral deposits in the region of Sumatra and Java. It appears that accumulations of metals are situated in the outcrops of these deep-rooted fracture zones which may effectuate a channeling of ore-bearing solutions liberated by flow of volatiles from the subduction zone.
