Abstract

The Georgetown Ring in northern Queensland is a large crustal ring feature aligned along an ENE axis of continental and offshore rings in Australian geodata sets including drainage, geology, gravity and topography. The rifts (lineaments) within the Georgetown Ring are demonstrably related to the distribution of near-surface resources and the ring, in conjunction with the rifts, exersize extraordinary control over regional geology, mineralization and topography within the Georgetown Ring.
