Abstract

As is well known, the tectonic deformation varies with depth. The question of what a depth the tectonic deformation may reach to and which style of tectonic deformation might be at various depths have long caught attention of the geoscientists. A comprehensive analysis of the geological and geophysical observations in North China (within about 35°-50oN and 105°-135°E) reveales that the tectonic framework varies at three different levels, i.e. on the Earths surface, in the crust, and in the upper mantle lithosphere.
