0+ fish as indicators for the ecological status of large rivers
Schiemer, F.; Flore, L.; Keckeis, H.
The ecology of large rivers is a rapidly expanding field. Several theories have been proposed during the last decade on hierarchically structured, multidimensional determinants of ecosystem processes, community organization and biodiversity. Fish are often in a very complex form linked to structural properties of rivers as well as dependent of processes of different scale. Their study can give detailed insight, a better understanding and "meat" to theoretical frameworks of river ecology.
