Abstract

Forest and meadow communities of the Morava and Dyje river floodplains belong to the most well-preserved ecosystems in Central Europe. The original water regime related to natural water courses has been markedly changed following water management measures. Waterlogging intensity as well as average spring peaks of water table have decreased. Successive changes occur in physical properties of soils, soil water capacity decreases and soil aeration in the upper horizons of soil profiles increases.
