Abstract
A new species of a polychelid lobster, Coleia martinlutheri n. sp., is described from early Sinemurian claystones temporarily exposed in the late 1970's in the north of the city of Eisenach. The new species, based on a single specimen, is the first record of this genus from the Sinemurian of Germany and shows close affinities to other species from the Hettangian/Sinemurian of England. The fossil record of these lobsters is mostly restricted to very few Fossillagerstätten, whereas records from other localities, like the present one, are exceptional.
