The review presents reactions in the systems CO2-H2O and CaCO3-CO2-H2O. Temperature functions of equilibrium and reaction rate constants as well as fractionation factors for carbon and oxygen isotopes are summarized. Rate constants for the dissolution and precipitation of calcium carbonate are given, and the fractionation of the isotopes is discussed for equilibrium and disequilibrium conditions.
