Special Issue: Element Partitioning in Experimental and Natural Systems. The contributions to this special issue arose from presentations at the Goldschmidt Conference 1996 at the University of Heidelberg, Germany (31st March-4th April 1996) in Symposium Nr. 4 entitled "Element Partitioning in Experimental and Natural Systems", for which the convenors were Stephen F. Foley and Erik H. Hauri. The contributions consider the distribution of both major and trace elements and cover a wide range of rock types and processes from diagenesis through metamorphic petrology to magmatic fluids and melts from rocks in a variety of tectonic settings. This is the first in a series of special issues and thematic sets of papers to be published during the next few years in NJMA. The editors and publisher would appreciate any suggestions for further symposia or workshops which may be suitable for special issues.
