A negatively charged species of gold in minerals - Further study of chemically bound gold in arsenopyrite and arsenian pyrite

197Au Mössbauer spectroscopy has undoubtedly ascertained chemically bound gold in gold-rich arsenopyrite and pyrite. Further study was conducted for the gold-rich arsenopyrite and pyrite from the Jinya Mine in Guangxi and the Lannigou Mine in Guizhou of SW China by means of 197Au Mössbauer Spectroscopy and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). 197Au Mössbauer spectroscopy analysis proved that all samples contain only chemically bound (combined) gold. The XPS data show that the double peaks of Au4f of chemically bound gold have clear negative shifts as compared to metallic gold. Based on the data obtained by the authors lately, this paper makes a more detailed discussion on the chemically bound gold in arsenopyrite and arsenian pyrite from a new point of view.
