Abstract (German)
In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden stratigraphische Profile für die jungtertiären Abfolgen des westlichen Wüstengebietes, des Nil-Deltas, des nördlichen Sinai und des Raumes Golf von Suez/nördliches Rotes Meer zusammengestellt. Die Konstruktion der Profile basiert auf Aufschlüssen und einer Auswertung von Daten des Untergrundes. Die schematisierten Profile belegen große Fazies- und Mächtigkeitsunterschiede für die einzelnen Regionen, welche überwiegend auf tektonische Aktivitäten während der Zeitspanne vom höheren Oligozän bis zum Pliozän zurückzuführen sind.
Abstract
Composite stratigraphic columns were constructed for the Neogene of Egypt. The columns, based on surface and subsurface data, indicate great facies and thickness differences between the successions of the western Desert, the Nile Delta, the northern Sinai and the Gulf of Suez/northern Red Sea areas. These differences can to a large extent be explained in terms of tectonic movements, which played an important part throughout the Late Oligocene to Pliocene time-span.
