Abstract
New informations are given about the ammonite faunas and the zonation of Callovian in Western India (Indo-East-African Province). The sudden expansion of West Tethyan elements (Reineckeiinae, some Pseudoperisphictinae) until southeastern part of the Tethys takes place near the Lower-Middle Callovian boundary and permits precise correlations, particularly during Middle Callovian. The Subzones of oxyptycha and gigantea of the parallel chronologic scale based on the evolution of Tethyan Reineckeiinae are recognized in India. Moreover, the acquisition of the tuberculated and crateriform stage at the close of the Lower Callovian by Tethyan Reineckeiinae suggests adaptation of the young to relatively shallow water environments.
