The Lower and Middle Jurassic (Aalenian-Bathonian) deposits occur throughout the vast territory of the North-East of the USSR, a region with complicated geologic structure and various Lower and Middle Jurassic sections. According to the litho- and biofacies and the geological history, four Structural Facies Regions (SFR) may be distinguished. I. Siberian SFR = Siberian platform; II. Kolyma SFR = approximately Yano-Kolyma Folded Area. III. Chukotka = Chukotka Folded Area; and IV. Cis-Okhotsk = Okhotsk Folded Area. Each region is subdivided into Structural Facies Areas (SFA) which, in turn, consist of several Structural Facies Zones (SFZ). In all regions the Lower and Middle Jurassic deposits belong to the geosynclinal complex and consist of mainly marine and volcanogenic sediments. Continental deposits are subordinated in the investigated sections.
