The North-Eastern region of the USSR occupies the vast territory of eastern Asia limited by the East-Siberian, Chukcha, Bering and Okhotsk seas, and the Kolyma River Basin to the West. Callovian and Upper Jurassic sediments are widespread in this region, particularly in the Kolyma River Basin and its right tributaries, i. e. the Bolshoy Anyui and Omolon Rivers. These sediments cover small areas in the Chukcha, Korjak and Penzhyn River basins, the Okhotsk sea coast (Northern Subokhotsk Sea region) and along the left bank of the headwaters of the Kolyma River.
