Abstract

New lithological and biostratigraphical data about the Tithonian stage of Ardèche are discussed in this paper. Only the ammonite faunas of the lithographicum, semiforme and fallauxi Zones are well represented. The lithostratigraphical relationships between the different formations are established. A revision of the "Ardescian" leads to a proposal for a new definition of its vertical range, which should be correspondent to the microcanthum and Durangites Zones (sensu ENAY & GEYSSANT, 1975), i.e. the Upper Tithonian.
