Zusammenfassung. Der stratigraphische Umfang und die Grenzen der Bilinguites-Cancelloceras Ammonoideen-Zone des Ober-Namur werden überprüft und die Ammonoideen-Vorkommen hinsichtlich ihrer biostratigraphischen Bedeutung dokumentiert. Die Basis der Zone bildet das erste Auftreten von Bilinguites bilinguis, einer kosmopolitischen Reticuloceratiden-Art, die durch eine dickscheibenförmige Gehäuseform und ventro-laterale Furchen charakterisiert ist. Das erste Auftreten der Gastrioceratiden-Gattung Cancelloceras bildet die Grenze zwischen den beiden Subzonen der Bilinguites-Cancelloceras-Zone.
Abstract
The stratigraphical range and the boundaries of the Upper Namurian ammonoid Bilinguites-Cancelloceras Zone are reviewed, and the ammonoid occurrences indicating this interval are documented. The base of the zone is marked by the appearance of Bilinguites bilinguis, a cosmopolitan reticuloceratid species possessing a compressed, subdiscoidal conch form and ventro-lateral grooves. The entry of the first gastrioceratid genus Cancelloceras represents the level separating two subzones of the Bilinguites-Cancelloceras Zone.
