Neogene palynological and isotopic age data from Selendi and Usak-Güre basins, western Turkey: A contribution to the upper limit of Eskihisar sporomorph association

Abstract (German)
Zusammenfassung. Neue palynologische Befunde und K-Ar Altersdatierungen belegen die bereits vor längerer Zeit kalkulierte Zeitspanne für das "Pollenbild von Eskihisar" zwischen 20 und 14 Ma. So verzahnen sich 15.5 ± 0.4 Ma alte Trachyandesite und 14.9 ± 0.6 Ma alte Trachydazite in den Becken von Usak-Güre und Selendi mit Schichten der Inay group, welche durch eine Pollenassoziation des o. g. Bildes charakterisiert sind. Damit kann nunmehr auch die obere Grenze des Eskihisar-Bildes mit großer Sicherheit bei etwa 14.8 Ma (oder noch etwas jünger) angenommen werden. Dies steht im Einklang mit einer älteren Datierung aus dem Dumlupinar-Sincanli-Gebiet.
Abstract
New palynological and isotopic data from Selendi and Usak-Güre basins are consistent with the formerly suggested time span of Eskihisar association (20-14 Ma). A 15.5 ± 0.4 Ma -old trachyandesite and 14.9 ± 0.6 Ma -old trachydacite interfinger with the Eskihisar sporomorph association bearing may group in the Usak-Güre and Selendi basins respectively. These findings show that upper limit of Eskihisar association can securely be placed at about 14.8 Ma or < 14.8 Ma in agreement with the previously dated Dumlupinar-Sincanli area.
