The species of Haptocillium are endoparasites of free-living nematodes. Their conidia attach to their prey by means of an adhesive apical wall-thickening. The genus is close to Pochonia but is distinguished by more slowly-growing colonies and by a tendency for the lower portions of the phialides to be inflated. Seven species are distinguished, including two new species, H. glocklingiae and H. rhabdosporum.
