Abstract

A key to the pleurocarpous mosses (Bryophytina p. p.) from the Near and Middle East (Southwest Asia) is presented, including all hitherto reported records (altogether 281 taxa). It includes keys to all families, genera and species, notes on the occurrence of the species in the different countries, and annotations to doubtful or erroneously recorded as well as taxonomic problematical taxa. One new combination, Rhynchostegiella teneriffae var. persica is included.
