The blanket bog vegetation at Sullom Voe, Shetland Islands, is a hyperoceanic form or race of Erico-Sphagnetum magellanici J. J. Moore (1964) 1968. The three sub-associations of the community recorded for the Scottish mainland occur in Shetland, the sub-association with Cladonia uncialis being by far the most extensive.
