Abstract
An analysis is made of vegetation and edaphic features along a catena in a protected marshland area near Castelló n, Spain. Vegetation was studied using the Braun-Blanquet approach followed by multivariate data analysis. This paper describes 17 coastal plant communities belonging to the following classes: Thero-Suaedetea, Salicornietea fruticosae, Juncetea maritimi, Potametea, Charetea, Phragmito-Magnocaricetea, Cakiletea maritimae, Ammophiletea, Rosmarinetea officinalis and Quercetea ilicis. Primary Correspondence Analysis (CA) distingished marshland, dune and aquatic habitats. Further Correspondence Analysis separated the main syntaxonomical units. Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA) related plant distribution with the electrical conductivity of the soils and the amount of Na+ and K+.
