Grasslands in the Polish Carpathians (GPC; GIVD ID: EU-PL-002; http://www. givd. info/ID/EUPL-002) is a vegetation-plot database for semi-natural eutrophic and mesotrophic meadows and pastures (from the Molinio-Arrhenatheretea class) and oligotrophic Nardus stricta grasslands (from the Calluno-Ulicetea class). It has been developed in the Institute of Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences since 2007. At present, the GPC database contains 5,674 relevés, one-third of which were obtained in an intensive field survey conducted in 2009–2014 on areas either not studied earlier, or only cursorily studied. The GPC provides floristic and vegetation data to synthetic and comparative studies, mainly the classification of grasslands and analyses of geographic patterns within plant communities. The dataset can be used in applied research as the scientific basis for initiatives in nature conservation.
