Abstract

The rank of plant fragments within the shales and sandstones of the Arnsberger Schichten (Namur A) was determined by measurements of the reflectance. The different values of rank thus obtained show correlation to the change of depth of the bassin in South-North-direction on one hand and to different tectonic positions of the rocks on the other hand.
