Aus den Branderfleck-Schichten der Lechtal-Decke der Nördlichen Kalkalpen werden kretazische Olistolithe (Alb-Turon) in Flachwasser-Fazies beschrieben. Die Komponenten der Olistostrome stammen aus dem bei der Transgression aufgearbeiteten Untergrund nahe den heutigen Fundorten und/oder aus Gebieten weiter im Süden. Diese Deutung basiert auf paläogeographischen Überlegungen, auf mikropaläontologischen und besonders auf faziellen Untersuchungen. Die Olistolithe beziehen wir aus dem Areal zwischen dem heutigen Verbreitungsgebiet der Branderfleck-Schichten im N und der Gosau im Süden. Sie belegen damit eine kontinuierliche Transgression der tieferen Oberkreide in den Nördlichen Kalkalpen.

Abstract

Cretaceous olistoliths (Albian-Turonian) of the Branderfleck Beds on the Lechtal nappe of the Northern Calcareous Alps represent a shallow-water facies. The olistoliths were concentrated by transgressive reworking and were originally deposited in proximity to their present location or in areas further to the south. This interpretation is based on paleogeographic considerations and on micropaleontological and, in particular, microfacies analyses. The olistoliths came from areas located between the present day distribution of the Branderfleck Beds in the north and the Gosau group in the south. The olistoliths are good evidence for continuous marine transgression during the lower Upper Cretaceous, in the region represented today by the Northern Calcareous Alps.
