Environmental histories of some Arabian Sands (Oman, United Arab Emirates) deduced from extended sedimentary analysis

Abstract
Dune sands from five separate localities in the United Arab Emirates and in Oman were subjected to an extended sedimentary analysis. The results - i.e. information on the environmental histories of the sands - are discussed in comparison to various more regional studies which focus mainly on sand sources and OSL dating. The comparative discussion - including a re-interpretation of some dating results - leads to a better understanding of the regional end-Pleistocene wind regimes and improves the knowledge on sand sources and Holocene processes.
