Synopsis top ↑

Fifty three species of Pseudocyphellaria Vainio, are recorded and described from cool temperate South America, including Chile, Juan Fernandez, Argentina and the Falkland Islands, and their known distributions there are mapped. Details of the chemistry, ecology, and biogeography of Pseudocyphellaria are presented, together with a key to species.
Seyen species are described as new: Pseudocyphellaria coppinsii D. Galloway sp. nov., P. guzmanii D. Galloway sp. nov., P. imshaugii D. Galloway sp. nov., P. malmeana D. Galloway sp. nov., P. redonii D. Galloway sp. nov., P. skottsbergii D. Galloway sp. nov., and P. wandae D. Galloway sp. nov.
The following new combination is proposed: Pseudocyphellaria hillii (Dodge) D. Galloway comb. nov.
