Neues Jahrbuch für Mineralogie - Abhandlungen
Journal of Mineralogy and Geochemistry (0077-7757)
Instructions to Authors
Neues Jahrbuch für Mineralogie (Journal of Mineralogy and Geochemistry) fully complies with the open access requirements of UKRI, Wellcome, and NIHR. Where required by their funder, authors retain the right to distribute their author accepted manuscript (AAM), such as via an institutional and/or subject repository (e.g. Europe PMC), under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence for release not earlier than the date of first online publication.
Neues Jahrbuch für Mineralogie (Journal of Mineralogy and Geochemistry) provides information on the progress of mineralogy in its widest sense including, but not limited to, crystallography and mineral physics, petrology, geochemistry and the science of mineral deposits. Neues Jahrbuch für Mineralogie is indexed in Science Citation Index and Current Contents. All manuscripts are peer-reviewed.
New scientific findings and thorough detailed studies are emerging at an ever increasing rate. All papers will therefore be published with the least possible delay within about 6-8 months after having been accepted by the Editor in charge.

Submission of manuscripts
Please submit manuscripts via the electronic Manuscript Management System on https://ms.schweizerbart.de/submit/njma
First time users please register as author, then follow the submission process. Submission of a manuscript to the electronic Manuscript Management System for publication in the N. Jb. Min. is considered binding assurance that this work has not been and will not be published elsewhere in this form and length.
Page charges are not expected for regular papers.
Copyright
With acceptance and publication of a manuscript the exclusive copyright for every language and country is transferred to the publishers. The copyright covers the exclusive rights to reproduce and distribute the article including reprints, microfilm or any other reproduction and translations.
Manuscript Structure and Layout
Manuscripts should be written in English. If manuscripts exceed 25 printed pages please contact the editor prior to submission. They must be ready for printing; this means prepared by word processor or typewritten, with double-spaced lines in single-column format. All text lines and pages must be consecutively numbered. To avoid confusion with spacing, block-text and right-justification should be avoided.
Please structure the manuscripts in the following way:
Title page, abstracts, key words, text, acknowledgements, references, tables, figure captions and figures.
The title page contains title, name of authors with first name given in full. Non English language papers must contain an English translation of the title and the captions.
A short English abstract is placed after the title.
At the end of the abstract the authors should propose up to ten key words.
A short paragraph mentioning and, if necessary, explaining, the instrumental equipment and/or methods applied to obtain the results of the investigations, should be included in the paper. Use the International System of Units (SI).
The full addresses of all authors should be quoted at the end of the paper.
Illustrations and Electronic Data Format
All illustrations must be labelled with the authors' names and the figure numbers. They will be printed within the text, should be numbered consecutively and all details must be clearly readable when reduced to the printing area (17,5 x 23,5 cm).
Figures that need special layout, such as side by side (or over and under) for direct comparative purposes should be marked as such.
Files of the manuscript, the figures and the graphs must meet the following requirements: Text preferably written with MS-Word (please indicate software version); all fonts embedded. Please do not use pervasive capitals for titles, headlines and section headings.
Figures and graphs: tif- or eps-files, (in exceptional cases jpeg-files may be used) minimum 600 dpi. Please ensure to embed all fonts when submitting eps-files. For publishing colour figures an extra charge will be applied.
Colour charges: Each printed colour page will be charged with € 34.90 + taxes. This includes colour in the online version of the article.
For adequate documentation of powder X-ray diffraction data, please follow the procedures given in Acta Crystallographica A 39, 174-186, Appendix III.
Revision: When submitting a revised manuscript version after review, authors should include 1) a cover letter briefly explaining the main changes to the manuscript, 2) a detailed point-by-point reply to the reviewers' comments, and 3) the revised manuscript version with changes marked.
References
All publications referred to in the text, tables and figure captions must be included in the reference list and vice versa. The format of in-text citations should be as follows: for one author: (Jones 2003), for two authors: (Cumchal & Drenner 2004), and for more than two authors: (Jones et al. 2006). Use semicolons to separate multiple citations. Multiple citations in-text should be ordered chronologically.
Reference list: We strongly recommend authors to use the APA 6 reference style to format references. EndNote users can download the EndNote style file here. (https://www.schweizerbart.de/resources/downloads/style-files/endnote_style_schweizerbart_apa6.ens).
If possible, please also supply the Endnote reference file. Authors not using EndNote shall follow the APA 6 reference formatting style.

Proofreading
After acceptance of their papers, authors (the first-named author for multi-author-papers) will receive the page proofs as pdf-file by e-mail. If the corrections are not returned in time, the paper will be published exactly as it appears in the uncorrected page proofs. Neither formal alterations nor other changes should be included in the proofs. Authors will be charged for any alterations which they make to a proof unless they are corrections of printer's errors.
PrePub articles (Pre-Print-Publication)
Since 2005 (NJB Vol. 181/1) manuscripts that are ready to be printed (e.g. accepted by the editors, composed and the proofs checked by the authors) are made available online prior to publication. Title and abstracts as well as authors names will be accessible by all visitors of the NJB online version. Full Text will be available for online journal subscribers. Papers will have a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) assigned and may be cited.
This service provides the opportunity to have articles available well in advance of their actual printed publication date. As soon as an article is published in print, it will be automatically removed from the Prepub TOC. Papers published PrePub will carry a footnote: Received (date), published online (date)
Reprints
Corresponding authors of an article will receive a pdf-file for personal use only. Personal use implies: No publication on private or other websites (self storage, repositories); No distribution in newsgroups or mailing lists etc.
Printed author’s reprints are only available on demand and against costs when ordered prior to the printing process. Please contact the publishers together with the final corrections.
Open Access
For regular papers authors or sponsors can purchase an optional Open Access license (Creative commons CC-BY-NC). For details please contact the publishers.
