Abstract
There is more suspended matter in the Danube when the level is high, and more in the first half of the year than in the second. The mean annual average is some 39 mg/l mineral matter and one seventh of that amount of organic matter. Quartz is the main component and mica and calcite occur too. Most of the particles are very small.
