Abstract
During the systemic investigations on the desmid biodiversity of Eastern Himalaya the authors visited Khechiperi Lake, West Sikkim, India and recorded 16 taxa belonging to the 6 genera viz. Arthrodesmus Ehrenberg ex Ralfs, Closterium Nitzsch ex Ralfs, Cosmarium Corda ex Ralfs, Cylindrocystis Meneghini ex De Bary, Gonatozygon De Bary, Spirotaenia Brébisson. The following 2 taxa have been recorded as new to Indian flora Cosmarium cymatopleurum Nordstedt and Gonatozygon monotaenium de Bary var. minutum Cushman. Rests are reported for the first time from this lake as well as to the West Sikkim, Eastern Himalaya.
