Abstract
Our dear collegue and friend André de Wilde, Emeritus Professor for Anatomy and Embryology at the Rijksuniversity of Groningen, The Netherlands, died of a heart attack on February 27th, 2002. It was due to the devoted entourage and caring of his wife Irma that he had been able to enjoy life at his beloved farm with all the warmth and glow of colours characteristic of the South of France during previous years of severe illness.
