Abstract
The author describes by means of light and scanning electron microscopy a new variety of Strombomonas, S. taiwanensis var. bigeonii from the channels of the lacustrian Iwama village on the southwestern shore of lake Inle, Myanmar (Burma). This variety differs from S. taiwanensis YAMAGISHI et COUTÉ (1995) (which it resembles by its external morphology) by its rod-like paramylum grains. No information has been obtained concerning the chloroplast granules.
