Abstract
Coral and shell fragments from three localities in Mauritius have been studied and eight species of euendolithic Cyanophyceae have been found, viz.: Cyanosaccus atticus, C. piriformis, Hyella cf. pyxis, H. cf. reptans, H. salutans, Hyella sp., Plectonema terebrans and Mastigocoleus testarum. Seven constitute new records for Mauritius. Three genera are also new records, namely: Cyanosaccus, Hyella and Mastigocoleus. This is the first exclusive study of euendolithic marine cyanophytes from Southern Africa.
