Abstract
During the last twenty years, a drastic decline in the sardine landings along the Egyptian Mediterranean coast were observed. Several factors are responsible for this decline. 1) The construction of the high dam at Aswan in 1964. — 2) Increased water pollution, either by sewage or industrial wastes as a result of increasing industralization of the area.
