Abstract
In Middle-Europe 7 species of the genus Hydra occur. H. oxycnida and H. braueri are rare species. H. vulgaris is more abundant while H. attenuata, H. circumcincta, H. oligactis and H. viridissima are the most frequent species. The exact determination of all species is based on the structure and the length of the nematocysts.
