Abstract
The concentrations of dissolved organic carbon (DOC), fine particulate organic carbon (FPOC), free carbon dioxide (CO2), and alkalinity were measured during a oneyear period from June 1982 to May 1983 in a small, highly productive, aquatic ecosystem located in Montour County, Pennsylvania. Seasonal changes were found in the system with respect to all parameters; however, free CO2 was the only parameter which exhibited significant site to site variation. Factors contributing to these differences were probably variations in autochthonous primary production and allochthonous input. The greatest amount of organic carbon exported from the system occurred in the form of DOC.
