Abstract
Limnothrix (formerly Oscillatoria) rosea represents a polymorphic species known from East Holstein and Swedish lakes where they can occur in substantial amounts. The composition of populations and the stratification of their meta-hypolimnetic maxima is described. The 3 morphotypes differ in nutrient demands, biotopes and associated algal populations revealing their ecological specifity.
