Abstract

Daphnia ambigua formed helmets in juvenile stages, when exposed from the final embryo stage to the second instar to the insecticide, carbaryl. Carbaryl exposure switched on the formation of the anti-predator morphology, which also acts as a response to chemicals released by predators.
