Abstract
An issue dedicated to the late Hartmut Nordsieck Hartmut Nordsieck (1940–2022) was a world-renowned expert on the systematics of terrestrial gastropods, especially the family Clausiliidae. He also generously gave his time and expertise as a volunteer researcher in the Malacology Section of the Senckenberg Research Institute and Museum, Frankfurt. Thus it is fitting that Senckenberg’s malacological journal should organise a tribute in his memory. Besides, Hartmut served for many years on the Editorial Board of Archiv für Molluskenkunde. In recognition of Hartmut Nordsieck’s contributions to malacology, the editors and guest editors decided to dedicate an issue of this journal to him. This issue honours Hartmut’s merits in the field of malacology with contributions covering not only his main interest, the clausiliids, but also various other groups of terrestrial snails. We are grateful to the contributors, many of whom had maintained scientific exchanges with Hartmut, for answering our call to contribute their work to this collection. We have no doubts that Hartmut would have had much fun studying these valuable and interesting papers! John Hutchinson, Ronald Janssen, Eike Neubert, Heike Reise, Katrin Schniebs, Julia Sigwart
