Abstract
Vallonia viarumunica is described from Delaram, Nimruz Province, Afghanistan. The holotype is currently the only known specimen of the new species. It had previously been reported as Vallonia mionecton schamhalensis Rosen, 1892. The new species is compared with Central Asian congeners. Two other gastropod species have been collected at the type locality: Granopupa granum (Draparnaud, 1801) and Pupoides coenopictus (Hutton, 1834). A third species, Pupisoma dioscoricola (C. B. Adams, 1845) (as Pupisoma orcula (Benson, 1850)), had also been mentioned but was re-identified as the apical whorls of a G. granum shell.
