Abstract
The new species Chaetosiphon (Pentatrichopus) muelleri n. sp. was found in Turkey on Potentilla. It can be distinguished from other Chaetosiphon species mainly by its long and fine apical rostrum segment. It is proposed that the genus Chaitomyzus Takahashi, formerly treated as a synonym of Chaetosiphon (Pentatrichopus), be treated as a subgenus because it lives on Labiatae and not Rosaceae, and its larvae have spiculated hind tibiae. A key to the species of C. (Pentatrichopus) and of C. (Chaitomyzus) is given.
